Meet Some of Our Women's Services Patients
“I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people handling my delivery including the nurturing postpartum staff. Probably one of the best resources I had was the free lactation help.
Dana, an elementary school teacher, was pregnant with her first child and like many mothers-to-be she was full of questions and overwhelmed about the birthing process.
St. Vincent’s Riverside came highly recommended from her co-workers so Dana chose an ob-gyn group that delivers at the hospital.
She took advantage of all the classes offered by St. Vincent’s to educate mothers and their support people on topics like pre-term labor, Cesarean birth, newborn care and more.
On delivery day, after 13 hours of labor Dana need an emergency C-section.
“Throughout the entire process my husband and I were constantly kept updated and informed by the caring staff and doctors.”
She and her husband felt secure even though the delivery wasn’t going according to plan because of the education they received.
“We knew there was a potential of things not going as planned but we were able to make knowledgeable choices which made the entire experience less nerve-racking.”
St. Vincent’s is there for mothers before, during and after delivery.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people handling my delivery including the nurturing postpartum staff. Probably one of the best resources I had was the free lactation help.”
Free lactation specialists are there to help with breastfeeding for one year after birth. Dana met with them for three months and they created a schedule to help her when she was on her own.
Now Dana and her husband Justin are enjoying their time watching baby JJ grow.
