Born in New York City, Dr. Fernando Moreno is a graduate of Columbia University and New York Medical College. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center of New York City, where he established his private practice. Board certified in OB/GYN, Dr. Moreno is a Diplomate of the American Board of OB/GYN, a Fellow in the American Congress of OB/GYN and a member of the New York Gynecological Society. He has previously held faculty appointments to New York Medical College and Mt. Sinai Medical School. CAPT Moreno was recognized in the 1995 and 1997 editions of “How to Find the Best Doctors for You and Your Family - New York Metro Area” for his expertise in Vaginal Birth after Cesarean Section.
Dr. Moreno subsequently accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy and served in Okinawa, Japan and Camp Pendleton, California prior to being stationed at Naval Hospital Jacksonville for the seven years. In addition to serving as an Ob/GYN physician during his naval career, Dr. Moreno served as Group Surgeon to 3rd Marine Logistics Group, leading a medical detachment that provided disaster relief efforts to 10,000 displaced Philippine citizens following the eruption of Mount Mayon. He also deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of U.S. and NATO efforts, and is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
Dr. Moreno joined the faculty of St. Vincent’s Family Medicine Center in October 2017. He practices full scope clinical OB/GYN with special interest in minimally invasive surgery, robotic laparoscopic surgery and comprehensive holistic maternity care.
Married with three children, Dr. Moreno enjoys time with his family and friends, travel, a good book, a good meal and a good workout.
