State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health John Armstrong will join Jacksonville community health officials at 1 p.m. Friday at 4201 Belfort Road to honor St. Vincent’s Medical Center Southside and Jacksonville Naval Hospital for being “baby friendly” hospitals.
The World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have a “baby friendly hospital” program that encourages hospitals to promote the breast-feeding of newborns.
St. Vincent’s Southside and Jacksonville Naval Hospital have met the criteria to get the “baby friendly” designation.
