The awards honor those who have given to the community and have been dedicated to the improvement of human relations among diverse groups.
William Cody, an obstetrician who since 1991 when he joined St. Vincent's Medical Center from the U.S. Naval Hospital, has spent hours teaching young physicians in the Family Practice Residency to care for and treat women. He personally delivered and supervised the residents in delivering hundreds of babies. He has been leading annual missions of health care providers to Haiti since 2006, providing free care and treatment (including surgery) for hundreds of impoverished patients.
"This year's honorees include true leaders and stewards of the Jacksonville community and each is deserving of the recognition and honor," said Nancy Broner, OneJax executive director.
