Healthcare That Is Safe
As a member of Ascension Health, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system, St. Vincent's HealthCare has as part of its strategic direction a promise to deliver Healthcare That Works, Healthcare That Is Safe, and Healthcare That Leaves No One Behind, for life. Through this Call to Action, we will strive to provide access for all to care that is safe and clinically excellent in ways that satisfy patients, associates, and physicians.
As a patient, you have the right to ask any caregiver about the procedure or treatment you are about to receive. Our staff invites and expects your questions. If you have any concerns about Patient Safety, please call St. Vincent's Patient Safety Hotline at 904-308-SAFE.
Ask Me 3
Nearly half of all U.S. adults have trouble with the ability to read, understand and act upon health information. It's not just about reading skills; it can be a problem for anyone regardless of their education or economic level. St. Vincent's HealthCare has joined forces with the Partnership for Clear Health Communication to help patients improve their health literacy skills through a program called Ask Me 3.
Ask Me 3 is a set of questions that you should ask your healthcare provider, pharmacist or other caregiver at every visit.
- What is my main problem?
- What do I need to do?
- Why is it important for me to do this?
Ask the three questions and be sure you understand the answers. If you don't, ask your caregiver to explain the information again.
