Visitation Policy At St. Vincent's HealthCare

Visits from family and friends can play an important part in a patient's recovery. In order to provide the best care possible, St. Vincent's HealthCare (SVHC) has put the following policies in place to ensure the optimum environment for healing.

Other Visitor Guidelines

  • Only two visitors per patient at a time are allowed.
  • Please keep visits brief.
  • Children younger than 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children may not be left unattended anywhere in the hospital.
  • Visitors are asked not to sit or lay on the patient's bed.
  • Visitors are asked to keep noise to a minimum.
  • Visitors must check with the nursing unit before bringing food or gifts to a patient's room.
  • Visitors are asked not to visit other patients on the unit, touch equipment or change the position of a patient or their bed without consulting the nurse.
  • To ensure the privacy of our patients, we ask that visitors step outside the patient's room whenever a doctor or nurse is providing treatment.
  • The patient has the right to give consent to receive the visitors he or she wants, including, but not limited to a spouse, partner, another family member, or a friend. The patient has the right to withdraw or deny the consent at any time.
