Home > Health Library > Cyclosporine for Atopic Dermatitis
Cyclosporine (such as Neoral) is used to treat
severe cases of adult
atopic dermatitis that haven't responded to other
treatments. It suppresses the
immune system. By blocking the body's
inflammation process, this oral medicine can
help control itching and rash.
Short-term treatment with cyclosporine works well in both adults and children. This medicine can cause serious side effects, such as high blood pressure and kidney problems. So your doctor will watch your treatment closely.
As soon as a person quits taking this medicine, the skin problem often comes back.
