Residency Learning Experiences

The rotation schedule for the 12-month PGY-1 Residency Program includes:  

 Orientation  5 weeks
 Six Core Rotations (4 week duration each)  24 weeks
 Five Elective Rotations (4 week duration each)  20 weeks
 Research Block  1 week
 ASHP Mid-Year Clinical Meeting  1 week
 Year End Wrap-Up Block  1 week
 Total  52 weeks

Electives (5 Rotations)

  • Cardiology
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Infectious Disease
  • Oncology
  • Pharmacy Informatics
  • Quality Management
  • Surgery
  • Repeat any rotation once
  • Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Toxicology, and Clinical Research are potential electives at other local healthcare facilities based on availability.

Longitudinal Rotations

  • Pharmacy Practice
    • One evening a week and every fifth weekend
    • One major and one minor holiday
  • Practice Management
    • One quarter focusing on each of the following management areas: quality management, pharmacy operations and drug information.
  • Research
