Description

When food is no longer a viable way to cope with distressing situations, thoughts, and emotions, it is critical to your success that you learn alternative effective coping skills.  During this class you will learn Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles that can be applied to more effectively manage distressing situations, thoughts, and emotions.  CBT and DBT techniques will assist you with implementing healthy coping strategies.  Class topics include:

  • Identifying  and challenging negative self-talk
  • Identifying negative thought patterns that lead to low self-esteem
  • Emotion regulation skills
  • Distress tolerance skills
  • Mindfulness skills
