St. Vincent’s Taking Nominations for 2nd Annual Mary Awards

December 21st, 2015

St. Vincent’s HealthCare, a member of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and nonprofit healthcare system, is now taking nominations for the 2nd Annual Mary Awards, which honor young women who are high school seniors serving God and their neighbors through their faith community.

The Mary Awards were created around St. Vincent’s HealthCare’s core values: Service of the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity and Dedication. All candidates must be a high school senior in Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau or Baker County and must also demonstrate:

  • Service to God and her faith community
  • Creativity and achievement in one of the four defined fields: academics, athletics, leadership and volunteerism/philanthropy
  • Selflessness and service to her neighbors

“The inaugural Mary Awards was a phenomenal success and we are so excited to begin the process of finding more exceptional candidates for this year’s event,” said the President of the St. Vincent’s Foundation, Jane R. Lanier, CFRE. “There are so many outstanding young women who are doing great things right here in the North Florida community.”

Twelve finalists will be selected by a committee representing the diversity of our region. The committee will interview the finalists and choose one award recipient in each of the four categories. The Mary Awards recipients will receive a gift of $1,000 each. All finalists will attend the awards dinner and ceremony on April 21st, 2016.

“We welcome young women of all faiths to be nominated,” said Mary Awards Chair, Jill Arnold. “Last year, it was so difficult to select the finalists and ultimate recipients because of how exceptional all of the young ladies were. We are confident this year will be no different.”

Nominations must be received no later than February 16th and mailed to:
