St. Vincent’s Riverside Prepares 21st Annual Thanksgiving Feast
For Meals on Wheels Recipients


Jacksonville, FL (Nov. 20, 2014) – St. Vincent’s HealthCare associates will make the holiday brighter and tastier for hundreds of First Coast residents this Thanksgiving as they share the gift of warm Thanksgiving meals for the 21st year. The event is a partnership between the hospital system and Aging True Community Senior Services to serve Meals on Wheels clients.

“I am so thankful to the food services staff and all the St. Vincent’s associates who volunteer along with my family on Thanksgiving Day, to provide these hot meals to our neighbors,” said St. Vincent’s HealthCare CEO Moody Chisholm. “We are all thankful that God has blessed St. Vincent’s with the opportunity to give back by feeding shut-ins and those in need for more than two decades. My family and our St. Vincent’s family look forward to loading taxis with hundreds of meals for those in need.”

The St. Vincent’s food and nutrition team in Riverside will prepare 500 meals that include:

• 150 lbs. of turkey
• 125 lbs. of green beans
• 125 lbs. of mashed potatoes
• 125 lbs. of stuffing
• 75 lbs. of cranberries

“Aging True Community Senior Services is honored to once again partner with St. Vincent's HealthCare and North Florida Transportation in this annual Thanksgiving meal delivery. Our clients so look forward to
this hot holiday meal. We can't say ‘thank you’ enough to the many volunteers and staff who make this possible,” said Aging True Community Senior Services CEO Teresa K. Barton.

Members of the media are invited to join us at 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27 as dozens of generous taxi drivers (from Gator City Taxi, Checker Yellow Cab and Super Shuttle) line King Street to fill their cars with holiday meals. The drivers donate their time and gasoline to make sure the meals get to their destination. Members of the media who wish to cover the meal preparations inside the St. Vincent’s Riverside kitchen can do so starting at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
