St. Vincent’s Provides Free Healthcare to Hundreds at Inaugural Medical Mission at Home
St. Vincent’s HealthCare, a ministry of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit healthcare system, provided thousands of free healthcare services to more than 200 local people in need at its inaugural Medical Mission at Home earlier today. Services provided included:
· Basic medical care and testing
· Behavioral health consultations
· Skin cancer, vision and hearing screenings
· Wellness and financial information
· Social services
· Spiritual care
“Everyone here was so friendly and so caring! It was a beautiful experience,” said one patient. “I hope more people were able to hear about this, because I experienced an absolute miracle.”
St. Vincent’s and its partners also developed referral plans to help participants receive the care they need beyond the event.
“We are committed to meeting people where they are and helping them get the healthcare they need,” said Tracie Loftis, Chief Mission Integration Officer at St. Vincent’s HealthCare. “Our hope is that the Medical Mission at Home was just the beginning of what will be a lifelong relationship between us and those we were able to help today.”
Medical Mission at Home is part of a national effort by Ascension and its caregivers to host similar events across the country. To date, Ascension has held Medical Mission at Home events in Tennessee, Washington DC, New York, Alabama and Connecticut, and plans to expand to other markets in the coming months to meet individual and community health needs.
