St. Vincent’s Names Chief Operating Officer

November 13, 2015

Tom VanOsdol

St. Vincent’s HealthCare, a member of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit healthcare system, has named Tom VanOsdol, MS, MA, FACHE, as its Chief Operating Officer of Clinically Integrated Systems of Care. In this new position, VanOsdol will serve alongside the newly created position of Chief Clinical Officer to oversee the development of regional clinically integrated systems of care, which is a critical piece of Ascension’s strategy to adapt to the changing healthcare environment. He will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for growth.

“St. Vincent’s HealthCare will celebrate 100 years of service to this community next year. Having leaders like Tom in place strengthens our ministry and our ability to serve our neighbors for decades to come. Tom will be an asset to St. Vincent’s and the people we serve,” said Mike Schatzlein, M.D., St. Vincent’s HealthCare President and CEO and Senior Vice President, Ascension Health.

VanOsdol is currently President of the Northeast Region of St. Vincent, in the Ascension Indiana Ministry Market. That region includes three hospitals in central Indiana. He began his Ascension career in 1990 as a speech pathologist at the Ascension hospital in Anderson, Indiana. He later became Vice President of Operations at Anderson and in 2008 became Regional President. VanOsdol is a past participant in the Ascension Executive Ministry Leadership Formation program and is a graduate of the Ascension Leadership Academy.

“I am deeply honored and grateful for the opportunity to join the St. Vincent’s HealthCare team in Jacksonville. I look forward to growing this health ministry and serving not only the associates but our patients and their families,” said VanOsdol.

VanOsdol and his wife, Kathy, have been married for 26 years and have a 21-year-old daughter, who is a senior at Xavier University in Cincinnati, and a 17-year-old son who will attend Purdue University next fall.

VanOsdol will assume his new duties at St. Vincent’s HealthCare on Dec. 14 and will have an office in the administrative suite at St. Vincent’s Medical Center Riverside.
