Health Notes: 8 area hospitals designated 'top performers' by Joint Commission

Eight area hospitals have been recognized by the Joint Commission, which accredits more than 20,000 health care organizations and programs nationally, as “top performers” in the commission’s 2015 annual report.

Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Medical Center Southside and Wolfson Children’s Hospital were recognized for excellence in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma and perinatal care.

Memorial Hospital was recognized for excellence in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, perinatal care and stroke.

Orange Park Medical Center was recognized for excellence in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care and perinatal care.

St. Vincent’s Medical Center Southside was recognized for excellence in heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, venous thromboembolism and perinatal care.

UF Health Jacksonville was recognized for excellence in heart attack, heat failure, pneumonia, surgical care and perinatal care. Wekiva Springs Center was recognized for hospital-based inpatient psychiatric care.
