The St. Vincent's HealthCare Foundation Mobile Health Outreach Ministry is one of the finalists in the annual Sapphire Awards and Symposium, which will be held in February in Orlando.
The St. Vincent's ministry is the only Northeast Florida honoree in the Sapphire Awards, sponsored by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation.
The Sapphire Awards is Florida's only statewide honor that recognizes programs, organizations and individuals that have demonstrated excellence and innovation in community health, according to a news release.
The Feb. 21-22 event features an expanded program, with national experts addressing trends, emerging issues and best practices related to child health and wellness, access to care and health care reform, according to a news release.
The opening day address on Feb. 21 will be given by John R. Lumpkin of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Feb. 22 awards presentation will include a keynote address by Patrick J. Geraghty, Chairman/CEO, Florida Blue.
A panel discussion on childhood obesity, health policy and wellness will be moderated by Judith Rodriguez, chair of Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of North Florida, and include Debbie I. Chang of Nemours; Robin Safley of the Florida Department of Agriculture; and Nate Whitman of Tufts University, according to the release.
Sessions will focus on "The Changing Health Care Landscape" as well as a "Funders Roundtable" with panelists Gail Christopher of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, David Christian of Regions Bank and Mara Frazier of Darden Restaurants.
In addition, technical workshops will focus on a range of topics including grant writing, strategic planning and measurement for nonprofits and health care reform. And the event will include exhibits of curriculums and tools to help health-related nonprofits better serve their clients.
