2013 Heart Ball: Chartrand to chair, Weavers to be honored

The American Heart Association-First Coast Market has named local business and community leader Gary Chartrand as the chair of the 2013 Heart Ball.

The fundraiser will be held Friday, April 5 at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse, according to a news release.

"Our focus for the 2013 Jacksonville Heart Ball is to support fitness and nutrition programs geared toward our youngest generation," Chartrand said in the release. "With the community's help, we can teach our children the importance of heart health and provide them with the tools they need to lead healthy, productive lives. I'm proud to serve as chair of this important event and look forward to engaging Jacksonville's leadership as we work to make the 2013 Heart Ball a huge success."

Chartrand, is executive chairman of Acosta Sales & Marketing Company, one of the largest privately held companies in Jacksonville. He and his wife Nancy and their family created The Chartrand Foundation, focused on public education reform, and donated the lead gift to St. Vincent's Health Care fror the development of the Gary and Nancy Chartrand Heart and Vascular Center, according to the release.

Another Jacksonville-based philanthropic couple, J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver, will be honored at the ball "for their unending generosity and dedication to Jacksonville and its citizens," according to the release.
