Medical Mission at Home
Saturday, April 29, 2017
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Prime Osborn Convention Center
The Medical Mission at Home is designed to provide free medical care and social services to hundreds of our neighbors in need. At our inaugural event in March 2016, we cared for more than 200 patients and provided more than a thousand services. The St. Vincent's Medical Mission at Home is part of a national series of events within Ascension. St. Vincent’s is part of Ascension, the nation’s largest nonprofit health system.
What Services Are Provided?
Over the course of a day, volunteers guide patients through the entire process. Services provided include:
- Medical Care & Testing
- Behavioral Health
- Spiritual Care
- Vision & Hearing Screenings
- Resident Resources from the City of Jacksonville
- And More!
We are also committed to caring for those who come beyond the event itself, so we develop a referral plan for patients to receive continual care.
Why Does It Matter?
An estimated 3,000 people in Jacksonville are homeless. In addition to needing food and shelter, many of them do not have access to healthcare. Furthermore, many families who do have homes are still underinsured or uninsured and lack access to healthcare.
To compassionately and completely manage the health of a population, we need to create new partnerships and improve existing ones. We also need to meet under¬served patients where they are by creating new access points that provide personalized, holistic care.
