The St. Vincent's Medical Center Podiatry Residency Program, established in 1993, trains physicians to become skilled professionals with the ability to succeed in the ever-changing field of podiatric medicine and surgery. The program fulfills the raining standards and requirements approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education for the accredited PM&S - 24 program.
Residents at St. Vincent's Medical Center will participate in all aspects of medicine, interacting with other physicians and healthcare professionals as members of the health care team. Opportunities include medical and surgical aspects of podiatry - including pre-op experiences.
Residents will also be involved in a surplus of didactic activities such as a journal club, grand rounds and weekly lectures. An assortment of continuing medical educational experiences will be provided for each resident. Residents will also have the opportunity to work with a variety of doctors and experience a diversity of surgical cases.
The Residency Program is housed in the Podiatry Clinic, conveniently located across the street from St. Vincent's Medical Center, at 2561 Riverside Ave, where physicians will gain most of their podiatric clinical experience.
The strengths of the program include the willingness of the podiatric and medical faculties to teach and spend time with residents. The volume and diversity of the clinical and surgical procedures support the requirements for a total of four residents (two in each year). The director and her associates are dedicated to the training of expert healthcare professionals. |
